    Skegs on canoes?

Apparently, I measure mine different. But what's an inch between friends? ;)

    Skegs on canoes?

The Echo has the same freeboard as the Wildfire, which I consider easily suitable for class 2+ rivers. The problem is your seating position. Sitting on the floor isn't conducive to good boat control. Gey your butt up above the floor and your knees under you in the chines and you have a lot more...

    Skegs on canoes?

While something like the Wenonah Rogue will do everything a Prospector will while being less tormented by wind, I was never unhappy about anything on my Prospector except the weight - which was a materials problem, not a design problem. And I'd never put a skeg on a Prospector either.

    An extra trippy Merlin.

This was not what I was expecting "trippy" to mean. It's a fun surprise and I enjoy looking at it - but I'm glad you will be one paddling it. I did something similar in a kayak I built back in the mid seventies. More of a camo design, and definitely unique. But it was eventually stolen anyway...

    Skegs on canoes?

1.5" of rocker is already tame. ;)

Where have all the whitewater canoes gone?

    It's tempting.

    Skegs on canoes?

Looks like you've already done enough to make it easier if your goal was to make it more suitable for a double blade. And it's all reversible, which is good. Taking your analogy a bit farther, I also have moved to plastic boots for telemark skiing on steeper terrain. But I still prefer my...

    Keep a secret?

No, but next time I'm up around Avery I'm going to have to check that out. Hey, there must be a story behind that name and Long Liz Creek just over the ridge.

POLL: How do you pronounce portage?

I believe in using the word as it is used by the locals wherever I may be. I have reasons. We know who the noobs are here when the say Boyzee instead of Boysee. Yeah, it's French, and doesn't sound French. So what?

Where have all the whitewater canoes gone?

There's an Esquif L'edge for sale in Moscow, an Outrage in Missoula, and another Outrage in Kalispell. Just sayin'. :)

    Keep a secret?

Hahaha! I'm not going to answer that. :D

    Skegs on canoes?

On paper, the Echo looks like it should handle similar to the Wildfire. That alone tells me that I wouldn't do anything to change it below the waterline. If you wish for an easier tracking canoe, I would bet a lot of money that you'd be better off selling the Echo (looks to me like a very...

    Keep a secret?

That's where I'm leaning on this. If we can keep it among those who care, that would be great.

    Keep a secret?

Not likely on this one, since it's surrounded by public land.

Who’s still paddling a Royalex solo boat

I've witnessed that model do well enough on long stretches of class 2+ with an improvised spray skirt and a couple stops to bail. I stood in the same boat and poled it in moving water. Being a descendant of the Guide and the Courier, you could do much worse. A pretty desirable all-around canoe IMO.

Yep. I'm familiar with that. :D

    Keep a secret?

Recently, I took a trip with a friend (both of us in solo boats) down a remote roadless stretch of river that seems to have escaped the attention of those who write guidebooks and Internet trip reports. We were able to find almost zero details about the river prior to the trip, other than flow...

Canoe Art: Paintings, Sketches, Sculpture, Architecture

Couldn't make out the logo. A blue circle with one visible line of text. That's all I could determine, as it's just not clear enough. So instead, I give you this. :D Yes, there was a piece missing. :(

"Momentum Matters": A Technique Essay by Marc Ornstein

I was employing all that and more on the river trip I did about a week and a half ago. It didn't look graceful like that though, because the current was much faster. :D Would never have made it through that meandering canyon dry without those moves.
