    Solo Portage

Thanks YC, that's what I thought too. I will go up there in September when most of the crowds are gone and will travel mostly into Quetico. I want to avoid the crowds, but I'm only four hours away and would like to see it. Most of the canoe heads that I know always give me a funny look when I...

    Solo Portage

I have decided to try the Boundary Waters this year and I have a question for those of you who solo in busier parks like BWCA or Algonquin. I have to double carry (triple) to carry my gear...canoe and food barrel on first trip, back for Duluth Pack and kitchen pail on second trip. Do you worry...

Hey Roadends, I see that you have posted TRs from my back yard. Sylvania is about an hour from where I live and I've been there often. Maybe we'll bump into each other sometime. I'll be there in October along with Jazzman from Solotripping, and probably a few times before then.

    A canoe for 2

My wife is a kayaker, and prefers to stay in hotels or drive-up campsites rather than trip through the wilderness and sleep on the ground... so I solo, of late in my Nova Craft Pal.

What are your 2012 tripping plans?

I'm in the planning stage for the upper Mississippi from Lake Itasca to St. Cloud in early July and Woodland Caribou the last week of July through the first week of August. Also spending two weeks in Quetico in September and a few days in Sylvania in October.

Camera Camera I use a Canon Powershot D10. It takes decent photos and is WATERPROOF so I can keep it out of dry bags when I'm on the water.

What is on your Christmas list?

Re: What is on your Christmas list? A Ray Kettlewell Ray's Special paddle. I've left enough clues around the house, hoping that the elves will find them.

    Hello

Re: Hello I paddle quite a bit around the area where I live, Manitowish River, Wisconsin River, Ontonagon Rivers, Presque Isle River, the Turtle Flambeau Flowage, including river systems in and out, Lake Superior, and lakes too numerous to mention. I paddle lots of day paddles and solo camp. As...

    Hello

Hello, my name is Skip Bessen. I go by Hogan (it's my black lab/best friend's name) online. I'm more of a lurker than a contributor on these forums because I feel I have more to learn than contribute, but I do have some things to share. I live in northern Wisconsin near Lake Superior...
