    GRB Rambler Solo Canoe, $1700

This boat sold a while ago, sorry I neglected to update.

    Old Town Pack value?

The 2012 through 2014 Packs had the cool decks with built in cleats. It's probably nothing, but give it a good look-over anyway. Ask him for the last two digits of the serial/hull number.

    Old Town Pack value?

As I went back to your pics and enlarged the bottom one, the decks almost look like the aftermarket replacement ones Oak Orchard Canoe sells. They may have been replaced, as even without the Old Town badge, there should be an embossed nest where the badge is placed. Compare my 2007 decks...

    Old Town Pack value?

Yes, my fourth Pack, narrowed to 30 1/2 inch max beam. Old Town has put that badge on nearly every canoe as long as I can remember, but they sometimes get removed when folks add outfitting like Scotty mounts.

    Old Town Pack value?

Yes, Facebook Marketplace. Shoppok.com is another resource for sales data, as they take a snapshot of Craigs List ads before the ads disappear forever.

    Old Town Pack value?

I think a 260CM would be fine, if you want to stick with a kayak paddle. Then you might start thinking about outfitting, especially if you liked the creature comforts of the Next.

Help choosing my next used solo...

The pics show the seat is set pretty low, so it should give you the Fox's best perspective from a stability standpoint. Nova Craft fit and finish is nice quality.

Help choosing my next used solo...

I'll just chime in on the three you mentioned, as recommendations for others will be endless: MR Slipper: Nice canoe, but has been listed for a long time without movement on price. Old fiberglass solos are a hard sell, everyone wants Kevlar, Carbon or Innegra. IMHO should be listed at $750...

    Old Town Pack value?

    That Pack has the late model decal and shows almost no wear at the stems, so a really good price. $700 for a Pack in the Northeast US is about average, but the condition of yours looks above average. Here are some comparables;

    On-the-fly adjustable seat height?

My guru suggested this: If only there was a way to mount it in a canoe.

    On-the-fly adjustable seat height?

Where the heck is Mike McCrea ???? Perfect challenge project!

    On-the-fly adjustable seat height?

One of the comments in that old thread was mine, but I should clarify. I liked the concept of the Wenonah system, especially if one wanted to adjust 'on the fly'. I just did not agree on the height and angle they chose in the design. If I still had access to a milling machine, I might have...

    Backrest for a Busted Back

The link doesn't work, but I am guessing you are referencing the 'Extreme Duty' backrest? They sure look robust, but only work with the 'Extreme Duty' seats.

Pricing on a used Solo Merlin II or Hemlock Peregrine

Congratulations! I saw the post on NACT, Chris has been a purveyor of used boats on Marketplace for many years, glad he was able to fix you up with the right boat at the right price!

    Question on members canoe search

I think for the most part NACT may have run its course; there doesn't seem to be a plethora of additions from anyone but the admins, who seemed determined to keep it alive. They each seem to have a genre of boats they prefer and it seems that just repeats. I was never on board with their...

    Question on members canoe search

There's a "Conversations" icon that allows private messaging here. People have posted in Classifieds for ISO (in search of) before. The problem with sharing other folk's ads as a practice is that it becomes difficult to manage. For instance, when you reposted my ad for the Blackhawk, an...

    Question on members canoe search

If you feel the need, why not reach out privately? North American Canoe Trader on Facebook already exists and there is no need to duplicate it here.

    Curtis/Colden Nomad mold

From an earlier post: "DY and Curtis updated the larger Solo Tripper in 1985 with Nomad, at 15’4”X28.5/26.5”, symmetrically hulled with shouldered tumblehome and symmetrical rocker. The hull had increased stem layout so waterline is shorter than overall length indicates. Yost also designed a...

    Shockwave vs NS Magic

I strongly believe if you spend some time in the new Merlin II (if the wife allows) your perception of tippyness will change considerably. Also, if your paddling style is a low seated position, you may have a hard time lifting the stems of a NS Magic to get her to turn. I can heel from a...

    Backrest for a Busted Back

Went ahead and ordered the Cushgear, thought I would try it on the OT Pack first. Still need to add a little padding, but so far so good. It adds almost no weight to the boat.
