    Canoe seats

I have always preferred the look and feel of cane, but my last two Ed's Cane Bucket seats stretched prematurely. Not sure where they are sourcing their materials now, maybe good cane is hard to find, so webbing from now on!

Free to good home, two CVCA back bands

Mike, just replaced the backband on the Vagabond (Wenonah, I have to differentiate which Vagabond now) with the one you sent. Looks good, can't wait to test it after ice-out! Thanks again!

Free to good home, two CVCA back bands

I have a backband currently installed on my Vagabond, and have been trying to 'McGyver' a way to raise it just a few inches without adding too much paraphernalia or weight. Like Mike, I have an aversion to any of the sitbackers or superseats that, because they are attached to a seat base, allow...

Which of 4 boats? So far...

I saw that Mad River pop up yesterday in Brockville (I have relatives in Ogdensburg), good price ($640 USD). You could get that as a play boat and hold out for a tripper later! It's a rare solo canoeist that has only one boat!

Which of 4 boats? So far...

I do admire your desire to buy Canadian; I like to buy “Made in the USA”, but on a used boat the manufacturer has already made his profit. If you expand your horizon, used solo boats on this side of the border are a little more available and priced better (exchange rate notwithstanding). I am...

Nova Craft Tough Stuff - Ha!

I had to go to the Nova Craft website to see the video you are discussing. Like Swift's carbon gunnel stress test, this makes for good marketing, but real world testing would be more compelling for folks that know the difference.

Which of 4 boats? So far...

I tested one in T-Formex at Mountainman last year, exactly as you described (only heavier still).

Nova Craft Tough Stuff - Ha!

I only see a hammer test on the hull from that link. Not a Nova Craft fan, but I would hate to see that hammer test applied to my Wenonah Ultralight!

Just curious, how are the statistics for the Forum calculated, specifically the 'Active User' count?

    Swift new infusion system

Nice video, Bill is a great marketing guy. I'm a big fan of test data, so liked the gunnel comparison test. I'd like to see the same test applied to the side of each gunnel, as I have never had one damaged from pressure on the top.

    Old Town Next?

Well Mike, not sure for how long, but I did have to break down and buy a Paddlecart. The Next is a little heavy for these old bones.

That's funny, the yakkers are a lot more tolerant of canoers! Truth is there a lot of canoers and pack boat owners like me on the site. Just saying, its nice to have rules this day and age. No one should feel unwelcome or harassed.

Below is an example of some good rules on a Facebook Group called “Church of the Double Paddle” which I admire. Yes, it’s a shame that such things are necessary, but these are the times we live in. I have abandoned the forums on Paddling.com, in part because it seems that a lack of established...

    Old Town Next?

Last thoughts on the Next: Might keep it another year, but don't want to wear out the screws switching seats back and forth. Came up with a compromise, leaving the bulky seat sliders in place and mounting a conventional seat at a raised height on top of the rails. Can now switch back and forth...

Doug, where do you keep the "Rules" of this Forum? Seems like I saw something when I was added.
