I noticed this yesterday when loading and unloading the canoe. I may add a thin outter just to make it easier to grab.

So I just glued my inner gunwales in my shortened northwest merlin and was thinking of skipping the outter gunwales, at least until I use this boat as a mold for another composite boat. Would there be any harm in using it without any outter gunwale? My seat will be attached to cleats epoxyed...

Long time lurker but this is my first post here. On my most recent build I glued walnut cleats to the sides with thickened epoxy to mount my seats to instead of the traditional method of hanging them from the gunwales. They have survived several day trips, but I am having second thoughts about...
