Help ID this Mad River ASAP

Thanks everyone for your awesome responses. I might hate myself later but I passed. Just too much to gamble on While my Canadian canoe might be a strange build I absolutely love the way it handles. Light and fast. I also just made my own seat for it and it turned out nice. Just too much at...

Help ID this Mad River ASAP

Thanks so much. Ok. Here is a hypothetical. The seller is asking $250. I do have an OK random French Canadian canoe that I like but don't think it was built as good as the MRC might have been. To me the damages look minor but that's why I'm here. Worth 250 or pass.

Help ID this Mad River ASAP

I have this canoe on hold. Seller wasn't quite sure on material. Is it Royalex ? Is the small crack and gunnel an issue? Any experience with this model regards to handling? Thanks for any help

    Dogs. Especially canoe dogs

Yes. The handles are a huge plus. As you can see in my center console boat the bow is raised up & that's where I fish from. Goofy decided to try & get up there with me and slipped off the side - SPLASH ! I think I panicked a bit more than he did but I was quickly able to lift him & his...

    Dogs. Especially canoe dogs

My dog seems to enjoy being on the canoe (and the boat) He's not the strongest swimmer so we've been practicing. Until then & even then he will wear his life jacket :)

Tripping in the Age of COVID19 - yea or nay? Thoughts?

I know here in Indiana all our campgrounds are closed. Seeing as this will only be my 2nd year canoeing I haven't ventured out beyond the campgrounds that offered a shuttle. (just me & the dog go) I have no problem waiting it out. Other than a couple quick grocery store trips I haven't...

Thanks for the feedback on Ed's seats. That is definitely a winter-time upgrade for me.

10 Day Voyage With a Fiberglass Canoe...1994 MR Sunrunner

Awesome......I haven't went over 5 hours yet. (really new here) I did find the Gorilla Tape skid plate trick already. It works. :)

    Ignorance is Bliss

Thanks everyone. I have a vacation coming up in a couple weeks. I will get a real paddle, youtube some videos, & then go and practice. I do know the boat was made by some tiny company in Quebec. Trudel Boats or something like that. I even called them but I didn't parle vous...

    Ignorance is Bliss

I have no skill level. I've literally been on a canoe less than 10 times :) I either sit or kneel and paddle. I still use a kayak paddle. Leaning is still something I don't do. I was just wondering why it turned so easily on the river but hard on the lake. Just the design of the...

    Ignorance is Bliss

Instead of creating a new post I thought I'd ask here since it has to do with this canoe: My question: As posted above I mention it was kind of hard to turn on lake water. However, when I got it on the river it was like a totally different boat. It would turn effortlessly. It would even "stall"...

How to Solo Lift a Canoe

My favorite way to carry my canoe is not to carry it at all : ) (at least me being new to canoeing haven't had to yet) I enjoyed your paddle video as well. I'm thinking about thinking about breaking away from loving my kayak paddle.

    27 Days remains my record.

I don't know how you guys do it. Maybe one day I will learn. I go on a 1 day trip & have 2 coolers, 2 sleeping bags, tent, lantern. Basically a truck full of stuff. Not sure how you guys pack enough to survive for that long :)

At the mercy of a shuttle service?

Thanks everyone. There is definitely not a lack of shuttles around me (within probably 50 miles). Not sure I would want to leave my canoe while biking back to the truck. However, with my new & fast Canadian canoe (haha Oh Canada!) I bet I could paddle upstream a ways. The rivers are low...

At the mercy of a shuttle service?

Since starting my new found love of canoeing I've only been on a moving river one time. Luckily my first shuttle was a campground regular. $10 to drive w/ me to launch & drive my truck back to camp. Now I am looking into another campground / rental place and they are wanting $25 to shuttle me...

Does this canoe look funny to you?

Everyone starts somewhere. Ask these guys. I was a huge pain in the butt for a few weeks with my first canoe. At least it was free. I had to sell my first tank canoe before I could step up to my canoe before a better canoe canoe. I can still hear my new canoe singing "Oh Canada" as I'm zooming...

    Coffee Cups/Mugs and morning rituals

This is why I joined.(other than asking silly questions about cheap canoes) My first canoe trip I stayed at a campsite...with electricity....and brought my little coffee maker :D Hardly roughing it. I know I need to get one of those cool little GSI presses. I would probably use that at...

    Ignorance is Bliss

Ha. I think it may only speak French. It sure wasn't listening yesterday. Found out that : lake + high wind = good times  As much as it was blowing I was still able to paddle easily even against the wind. This thing is a sportster compared to my last canoe. Those high gusts just...

    Ignorance is Bliss

Yeah. It's odd. It's never seen the water....but he replaced the center thwart. The seats look dry & worn as well. The bottom is scratch free. It's definitely a mystery. I would like to get a seat cover and maybe some pads for the knees. It was much more comfortable in that position...
