    Why I don't like Florida

I don't think GP has ever paddled a first magnitude spring run. I don't think GP has ever paddled to a remote off shore Key that has a sandy shore to pull up on and breakers to surf. I don't think GP has ever paddled the wilderness waterway and been the master of his own fate I don't think GG...

    Describe your seasons and climate

We have the best of both worlds! Six months in the NC mountains in the summer and six months in the Florida Keys in the winter. I grew up and worked the first part of my life in Boston, and sloshed and slid to and from work way too many times to ever want to live back in the north again. As I...

    Your best (favorite?) paddling partner...

How many times have you ended up in the drink?

A few times here and there, but the most memorable was about five or six years ago in the Adirondack 90 miler in Browns Tract which is a very narrow twisty waterway. I was in our Jensen 17 tandem with the best bow paddler in the world, (my wife). We were flying and kept passing boats, and on...

What are your favorite accessories when paddling?

We always take our hand held GPS units. I have made mounts for them on the thwart in front of our seats. It is always interesting to keep track of you mileage and all the other good things they can do. You could start with a cheap one and then when you get proficient with it move up to a...

The beater canoe. It brings a smile to my face. Scratches are a good thing.

Our beater; is a Wenonah, Kevlar Jensen 17 . I have redone the bottom three times, and repaired three broken ribs at various times. It has won us many medals and trophies in the stock class and we'll never get rid of it even though we have a newer same model one. Any one doing the 90 miler this...
