    Northstar - Trillium

agreed. It also seems that the back thwart gives more room to get a bag in the back, but maybe it had to be that way because of the room you lose with it being a foot shorter. I wish I had somewhere close to try paddling both.

    Northstar - Trillium

Anybody hear anything about the new Northstar Trillium? Just saw it listed on their website, mistakenly under the tandem canoes. Looks to be a slightly smaller Northwind Solo... thoughts?

    Winter storm for BWCA...

dang. That's definitely worse than what they were saying. Although I figured it'd be heavy. As for the roads I can only assume that they don't have a ton of plows up there. Although you'd think the main drag from Tower to Ely might be better than other roads....

    Winter storm for BWCA...

I dont think i've ever been hit with 8 inches before. How'd that affect the rest of your trip? Looks like the Frost Lake area of the BWCA is going to get up to 12 inches. Hope whoever might be out there brought snowshoes...

    Winter storm for BWCA...

Does anyone know anyone that crossed their fingers and took one last trip into the BWCA recently? With 12 inches in some spots they might find themselves being able to pull their canoe behind them on those portages...

Poll: How many women canoe? (Update: Detours into a Peeing in the Woods Thread around post #42)

I just laughed way too hard at the update.

Poll: How many women canoe? (Update: Detours into a Peeing in the Woods Thread around post #42)

I passed 2 canoes with 4 women in their 40s-50s a good 3 or 4 miles from anything while exploring some rivers a couple weeks ago(I didn't expect to see anyone in that area). I think there are more women canoeists than we assume there are. I feel like I always see a couple groups of women...

    Poll: How Old Are You?

can't wait. Probably taking a leave of absence next year to do an extended canoe trip. 30 years(for me) seems too far out haha

    Poll: How Old Are You?

Frozen Tripper, no worries. I don't take things too personally on the internet. Most people I know that paddle are about my age, early to mid 30's with a couple in their high 20s. But when it comes to finding people to actually go tripping for a week or so that list shortens quite a bit. They...

    Poll: How Old Are You?

In my defense, I was canoeing last weekend or I may have been posting sooner

    We suck

I'm sure some of us will take those canoes off your hands... They might be a tool of genocide, but they paddle so well.

    Poll: How Old Are You?

Leaving tonight - SPOT tracking page

I always worry about the vehicle when I leave it. That really sucks, but sounds like he handled it well considering the situation. Looking forward to hearing what he has to say. I'm sure he'll spend a week on here just answering our questions.

    Sylvania or Craig Lake SP?

If you wait till October I'd consider Sylvania again... just because it'd be less busy, I'd say it'd be worth checking the permits but I think October becomes a free for all with no reserved campsites (which in my mind is way better). Either would be great. I know Mid October is prime foliage at...

    Sold

Now that I have the Grand Portage Pack I just don't feel like I will use it often, if at all. I really like the layout of the pack with the exterior pockets and axe sleeve but I've found away around it with the other pack. I'm also looking to buy a snowtrekker tent so any room I can clear up in...

I have the superior portage pads and love them.

    Sylvania or Craig Lake SP?

That's a bummer, hope you have a quick recovery. I'll be going there in October if you'd ever want to meet up.

    Sylvania or Craig Lake SP?

My favorite out of the two is Craig Lake. Less people, no reservations. If you're basing camping it'll be better too. Day trips to Crooked Lake, Clair Lake, or exploring the rivers are all solid ways to spend the days.
