They look pretty nice. My son and I have had good luck with 5.11 pants and shirts. Great water repellency, stitching, and very secure pockets

A Must read Canadian History book

It is quite ridiculous what hockey has turned into in our country. Year-round hockey, travelling all over North America, 5:00 am practices, 11:00 practices, and this is all for 99% of the kids that will never make the NHL. What happened to playing hockey for fun? For all of the thousands of...

A Must read Canadian History book

I have heard many people talk about "spending disproportionate tax revenues" on Southern Ontario but have never seen any real data to back that up. With approximately 94% of the population living in "The South", it makes sense to most that a large portion of tax revenue should be spent there. I...

A Must read Canadian History book

It's funny how many of today's youth in Canada don't cheer for Canadian teams anymore. I have more Bruins, Penguins and Capitals fans in my class than anything else. Not one Leaf fan. The season is alive and well for many up here.

    Hi, I'm John from Ontario

Welcome. I have some relatives that live not too far away from you in Havelock. I spent many a day fishing Belmont Lake, Kasshabog Lake, Round Lake etc.

    Bushcraft vehicle extrication.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I watch a show called Dirty Rotten Survival. In an episode, they tried using this flip flop winch method to get and old Jeep out of the mud. The strapping the used broke first. The successful strategy involved using a land anchor and the rotating spinning...

Thrive Freeze Dried Potato Dices - Good!

New people and all of these old posts start resurfacing. First of all for Thrive in Canada, you can find a Thrive representative in most communities. I found one here in Barrie. They can either order the products in for you or set you up with an account. I am about to order some chicken bits...

It is crazy how under appreciated this area of Ontario is. Very little fishing pressure (100 fish days are not uncommon), Moose everywhere, Bald Eagles, Pelicans, complete solitude, beautiful scenery... it is a hidden gem.

Thanks for the welcomes. Love the Marshall Lake area despite some of the "interesting times" which included a moose/vehicle encounter. I am definitely heading back up there again this year.

Excited to join in the discussions. I am from Barrie, Ontario and have been canoeing for about 15 years now. I got into canoeing to help find great fishing locations and now love to canoe just to get away from the hustle and bustle of "normal" everyday life.
