    'Quietly Contemplating Nature's Grandeur'

that was a great read and surprise too, but never me. I was always late getting back from my adventures. After many years of fishing, camping and hunting my dad knew I was probably fine, but my mom always worried the same as my wife did later in life when I was out of contact with our son for...

need gelcoat repair advice as of today

I've never messed with clear gel coat, but I would try a small area first. I would be wary of bonding issues in those shallow graves, especially under flex. The holes of course will need some kind of thickened resin and should hold in place pretty well. That may not be gel coat either, could be...

Algonquin Park secret lake hotspot - Freedom of Information Act used to find identity

High traffic fishing forums refer to it as hot spotting. The internet seems to have created an enhanced need for people to share too much info with some of this stuff. For me it comes down to what I'm doing and where. Highly traveled or commonly known places I don't mind sharing locations and...

    Futile Camp Chair Question

I've had one of these for a few months now, but very impressed so far. Only used it a few times but the large feet are a huge plus in these parts, ENP beach sand, sandy loam:soils, and swamp biomass that I frequent. Its very sturdy too, seems a bit more so than the helinox chairs I've fiddled...

    Photobucket is back!

once photobucket pulled the strong arm tactic I deleted all my content from their site and will never go back. I see no reason to trust they won't do it again down the road, f'em...

    Reflective Tarp Line, in quantity?

i've bought several hanks of cordage from lawsons for various rigging projects and tarp tie outs, etc. Good quality cordage and never any issues ordering from them.

    Carbon Innegra canoe build

Looks great! Doing a show through with the high-tech weave is challenging, especially for a contact layup, every overlap, stray tow and imperfection shows through including any surface irregularities in the plug below. Those high thread count fabrics are more suited to infusion so I'd say you...

They are OUT and they are MEAN

sorry to hear, all the flying teeth have been out around these parts for a while now :Once the ENP permits are free you know its on down here :)

    NorthWind blowing in Fl...

silly bling stuff... mulling over paint vs vinyl for deck/hull seam, color. With the kevlar interior with yellow tinted UV epoxy fill coat I think some sort of yellow for the deck seam and a smaller pin stripe to hide the somewhat crappy carbon edge line where the combing meets the bright deck...

    Passage Solo build

Build looks really good, I like the contour on the skid plate too. I have only built one canoe and since it has a rudder and sliding seat I needed to water test to figure out where to place things. I did use UV inhibited epoxy on mine, but a short water test shouldn't matter much regardless.

    NorthWind blowing in Fl...

I tend to agree making the float bags to size is probably the best route and the heat seal nylon is impressive for sure and not that hard to work with once you get a little experience. I'm still on the fence with float bags, but given the expedition use I may be falling toward bulkheads. As you...

Mike, I'm under no illusion the bungee is sufficient even for a rain cover and probably not at all for a spray skirt, however I have some ideas involving dyneema cordage that I'm experimenting with that have potential. As fer the bandits...

    NorthWind blowing in Fl...

thanks Mike. As you know the skirt is more of safety thing for these watertribe events and of course my own coastal jaunts. This last EC event was delayed a couple hours due to small craft conditions. We could see the 4'-5' waves on the horizon from the beach, which was the approximate center of...
