    Old Town Yankee Model 1946

It is a lot of rocker. I can't find specs on it, but I know you could purchase it for $95 and a 3 horse Aerothrust engine for $50 in 1944! https://www.lanemotormuseum.org/collection/floating/item/old-town-yankee-canoe-16-with-aerothrust-engine

I owned a Northstar Phoenix in IXP that I was very happy with. 14.5 feet long with wood trim was 44 lbs. Held up well to rocks and impacts.

WTB: Nova Craft Trapper (anything but Fiberglass)

Nova Craft's website states the Trapper has a shallow arch bottom but no pic. This can very widely from each manufacturer so I e-mailed them and got a personal phone call from Nova Craft. He answered all my questions and even offered to ship the canoe to Duluth, MN once purchased through a...

What on earth are you talking about? I started it to promote a local maker of great products. You are the only one who is negative and unhelpful. If you don't even know the purpose of such post please refrain from commenting in the future.

Well, because that is a private conversation you had with Dan......I never said Google is the only way. I own a small business with no employees and Google is my lifeblood. I don't pay them or anyone for advertisement, but I know how to embed the key search words in my website. I can't think of...

Everyone takes an axe/hatchet with them, right ?

I always bring and an ax and saw. If we are going lite and fast I bring the GB outdoor ax and Silky Bigboy. For anything else I love my GB wilderness ax for felling and splitting combined with the Silky Katana. Cooking and sitting around the campfire is one of my favorite things about canoe...

    Old Town Next?

To me, this is where the Next really shines. I have a Swift Pack 13, but I hate being worried about dragging it on gravel bottoms or having my kids damage it. The seat is so comfortable, I can fish out of it all day, and I'm not concerned if I scraped the bottom. With it's stock seat it...

    Old Town Next?

I just picked up a used Next for $600 and am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the seat is. I'm just under 6 foot and had to use a 2 inch foam pad to comfortably paddle with a single blade, but is tracked straight and relatively fast, never pushed water. I am very happy with it for what it...

I don't know if I have somehow offended you by mentioning CCS or if I did something wrong by posting this, but I did a search and did not see it come up. I wanted to promote a local maker of great gear. If Dan doesn't want this than I apologize.

I know Dan's products are no secret to the Canoeing community, but he doesn't come up on google for best traps and is rarely mentioned in the gear reviews by the national gear reviewers so I wanted to give a local guy a shout out. He's also a very patient canoe instructor as well.

Local maker out of Lino Lakes, MN. Makes the best tarps money can buy. I own a 10 x 16 1.1oz Tundra tarp and a 10 x 10 1.9oz Tundra tarp. The stitching is superb, tons of sewn loops for multiple configurations, and a cloth reinforced center for paddle or pole if no trees available. Mine stood up...

    Purcell Trench Grills

Couldn't agree more. You can easily fit 2 2 quart vessels at the same time with the travelers grill. So light and small I pack it in my camp chair or thwart bag.
