    Resuscitating Fish

Ha! Catfish 'n carp.... ya can't kill them. I think they will, along with the roach, inherit the Earth after all else is long gone.

    Resuscitating Fish

I try to keep my fingers/thumbs out of the gills when unhooking. I use the lower jaw to manipulate the fish. "Aim" the fish upriver if there is a current. If water temps are too high its pretty tough to successfully resusc and release.

    More snowshoeing

Enjoyed your post, Iskweo. I'm living vicariously in such posts as we are having a very weird winter here in central Wyoming this year. Actually, its really restricted to a small region around Casper where we seem to be just missing all the storms. We've had only one good snowfall of 6" or so...

    Can anyone Identify these tracks

LOL! It was a play on a phrase from an infamous episode of that silly arsed cartoon "South Park". Two men are taking youngsters to hunt, youngin' is reluctant to shoot helpless animal (a rabbit). The men see a grazing bear in the distance and shout, "It's coming right for us." In reality, it...

    Considering my 1st build.

He wasn't trying to hide them, he was using them to artistic effect by virtue of keeping them perfectly aligned and highlighted. It was really quite impressive. Wish I'd have taken a picture of it now.

    Considering my 1st build.

Years ago I saw a fellow's strip built kayak where he had done just that. He had a vertical row of butt joints towards each end of the boat carefully aligned. He also took care to align all his staples, too, and the combination gave it a very neat stick-built appearance. I wasn't able to talk...

    Nicely done, Cruiser.

    Considering my 1st build.

If my strips are B&Cd I can always shave and bevel a few if I have the need. Most of the errors you will have with beveling will be on the inside. And you will have errors unless you're going to go at a furniture-build pace. Errors (small gaps) on the inside are not a big issue for kayaks given...

    Raccoon attacks man in Pa.

You might consider the Ruger LCR revolvers. Compact and very lightweight. Many enthusiasts like the 327 Federal magnum versions as they hold 6 rounds as compared to the usual 5. The ammo is on the more expensive side but it sure performs well on varmints and predators. Great backpacking handgun...

Setting up a Skilsaw for cutting strips

I'm a recent convert to Jim's method and I would never again go back to a TS for strips or gunwales. It would certainly be worth anyone's time to just set up a saw and fence as Jim illustrates to play around with a little bit on scrap wood. You will probably be surprised at the ease of use and...

    spray covers

Interesting system, Ralph. I also have a NW spray deck - a 3 piece for my Magic. I seldom use the central cockpit section but I often use the bow and stern sections as they help noticeably on windy days. I may try something similar to your set up. If I'm understanding you correctly, you have a...

    20 foot freighter canoe

I've never done any brass stems but I sure like the looks of 'em. I like a nice thick rare buffalo burger, oblong shaped, folded in a large soft tortilla. I can put all kinds o' goodies on that burger and keep it captured in the wrap. (I hate dirty fingers)
