    Not another canoe build

As BWCA66 said it should be left up to me. I know this has been a site focused on canoes but in these different times I think there should be allowances. Traveler is still building and posting about that build and here's the thing Traveler is showing another way of building so if you all want my...

Well, if you get really, really bored Robin I do have an old Stowe 17' canoe that needs attention! I just can't seem to bring myself to spend the time to fix it!

    Sign of Our Times

My first run down the Saco River in Maine was an eye opener especially since we went in Dec. Piles of feces everywhere with TP frozen in the ground. We found a relatively "clean" spot to camp across from the Old Course but when I crawled out of my tent in the morning there frozen in the ground...

    Post Apocalypse Tripping World

I hate to be a nay sayer but in my neck of the woods the trailheads are packed with cars and people and those people are milling together like a bunch of cattle shoulder to shoulder yakking it up like it was a casual get together. As long as that stuff happens this is going to be a long road to...

    My wind speed gauge

Real cheap, a book of matches. If you can light a smoke with a single match you're good to go, if it takes the whole pack than stay at camp.

    My wind speed gauge

Jokes and Laughter for the Day

Gumpus, years ago drove to another state to paddle and when I went to get my PFD it was still hanging in the shed back home. Think we've all been there.

Help me choose my last Canadian river trip

The Albany would fit the bill in many ways depending where you putin and took out. We put in outside of Ignace and paddled all the way to the James Bay, did about 100 miles of that and then up to Moosenee. Long time ago so I wouldn't be sure of where a good takeout would be that had access by...

Help me choose my last Canadian river trip

It's a fast river and you have to pace yourself or as recped said you can do it it in a short time. I believe it's only 80 something miles. I enjoyed the hell out of it when ran it a few years back!

    Dealing Day to Day

Well, I am glad to see from all the posts that everyone here is dealing as best they can with the situation we are in. The Laughter is the Best Medicine thread started by Watersypder says it all. I think builds are going to progress at a faster pace now that many of us are home. I just wanted to...

Anyone else slowing their shop work roll?

I have a least two months of work on my F/G Malecite. I had to go with scarf joints which I'm not crazy about but am doing it. I need at least 19' so went with 20. Guess how long my shop is? Yup, 20' so they are a bear to store but am making due. One project to get the hull back together at...

    Canadian border closed

I agree with you sweeper! Although I can't get a 7 day trip out of river in NH, maybe the CT river, but plenty of lakes and rivers to get a weekend out of or even 4 days or so. The Daks have a ton of paddling opportunities as well. Although I don't have any real trips planned this year I do...

Paint for Royalex canoe. What type?

For several canoes I just used an exterior paint knowing that these boats were going to get scratched up again on my rocky rivers. I thought about the interlux paints but hell once a scratch is done it's done. I did spray cans on one boat but never again. Always use a roller and the a foam...
