    Canoe storage stand/rack

I have an unfinished garage so I did the same, a horizontal 2 x 4 with a 45 support. I also made loops of rope hanging from the trusses. On one end I tied on a carabiner so I can cradle the bow in the one loop, lift the canoe straight up and carabiner the stern into place.

Jokes and Laughter for the Day

My Grandpa used to tell me to only date ugly girls. When I asked him why, he said "a pretty girl can leave you". Yeah Grandpa but an ugly girl can leave you too, right? "Of course she can, but who cares"?

    Carbon Straight Shaft

I'd tape it for sure, to keep it from splintering. Carbon slivers are not fun.

Jokes and Laughter for the Day

I was helping a lady get her car out of the snow bank this morning and told her she was the 3rd pregnant woman I helped this winter. She said " I'm not pregnant" !!! Yeah? Well you're not out of the snow bank yet either!

    Simple Meal Ideas

Thanks Alan! I find that even the most bland meals can taste gourmet when you're hungry. I have a dehydrator and use it mostly for vegetables out of the garden or wild fruit.

    Simple Meal Ideas

Who has a favorite recipe that is super simple? Most of my trips are quick over-nighters and weekend trips, since I still work full time and many are thought of on the morning I'm leaving. I don't want to spend days dehydrating gourmet meals and I'm not really picky when it comes to camp food...

    Savage River Falcon

Hey Mike!! I was looking at the Clipper Sea 1 but no luck locating one in the Midwest and they are "temporarily unavailable" on their web site. I have a Wenonah Canak as well and those are "retired" so there must not be a huge demand for that type of boat. I'm used to a pedestal seat, I prefer...

    Savage River Falcon

Hey Glenn! I'll paddle it with bent shaft, single blade paddle. I have a few, mostly Zaverals. Also, I did not have a rudder installed, I wanted to see how she tracks without one, I can add one if it needs it.

    Savage River Falcon

Yes, I wanted a decked boat. I had a Sawyer Loon a while back and liked it but she was heavy. I've always wanted a Kruger but those aren't being made any longer and even a well used one is not cheap, I'll keep my radar on though!! ;)

    Savage River Falcon

I picked up a decked canoe from Savage River a couple weeks ago and finally got some pictures. The Falcon uses the hull of their solo canoe Blackwater. Now I need it to get above freezing to get out and paddle this beauty! I need to add that the customer service at SR is over the top and they...

Canoes you wish you had back

For me, it was a Sawyer Loon. I really liked it but it was fiberglass and very heavy. It went to a younger local guy who is still using it and it's still looking good.

    Wenonah and paddling technique

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I see many posts here about the inconvenience to switching sides while paddling. It takes me less than a second to switch over and yes I get a drop or 2 or water in the canoe. But that sure beats paddling on one side for an extended period of time and a switch...

    Canoe hauling

I'd have to say gunnel brackets are a must to help keep the boat stable. The length of the canoe should be no problem, the 36" width should fit just fine but getting a 70lb canoe on your roof without help could be an issue.

Your canoe trip plans, hopes, dreams for 2022

This is the time of year when I start looking at maps and realize there are plenty of areas right here in my home state of Michigan that I haven't paddled and could easily be done on weekend over - nighters. Then I find myself look at trips a 1000 miles away!!

Poll: What do you sleep on mostly when canoe camping?

Personally I'll take an air mattress and a Ridgerest pad. Like others here, I've woken up more than once on a inflatable that was no longer holding air.

    Canoe themed beer part II

After spending all day on the water, especially in the summer, they are all my style! ;)
