    Precipitous Moose Decline in Minnesota

Huh. Seems they forgot to mention the wolves. Don't get me wrong, the brainworm and other parasites they are picking up from ticks and snails are taking their toll, but yeah. Don't offend the wolf lovers. ETA: I did not see the portion of the article telling of the impact grey wolves are...

Link color bug/oversight in "Shades of Blue" theme.

I'm showing blue hyperlinks for all three. I regularly feequent another forum that utilizes Xenforo, and a few years ago they had an issue like you describe. It was blamed on one of the big browsers, I don't recall which. It only happened on the desktop site. I have checked Chrome and Edge on...

My son's first vehicle. Tripping machine, lol The 76" Yakima bars will easily handle side by side Prospector hulls.

Grade A boat or a second?

I wouldn't be happy if I thought I was getting a sub-par boat in return for my cash. But what is sub-par? Like some have said, there are different levels of fit and finish expected from different manufacturers. Swift is probably the best known for consistency in fit and finish. Every boat I...

How to repair a deep scratch in Kevlar?

Lay in a fillet of epoxy and send it. Chamfer the edges if you want to be fussy. Be careful with snagging more fibers. A syringe will help "re-wet" the fuzzed cloth and push epoxy into any voids created to the side of the damage. Sorry about the scratch, I know the feeling!

Blue Steel Layup Inspection / Repair Advice

We had a nice day last week so I got around to chipping away at the loose gel coat. This looks like it's going to take a while. All of those little fractures probably need a "v" cut into them if I am going to add a skim coat to prevent water intrusion and layup oxidation. Maybe worth it, maybe...

    Peak Refuel Freeze Dried meals

I love Peak. Their biscuits and gravy is the best of the freeze dried, and their breakfast scramble will legit feed two big people. It will fill 6 10" tortillas. Alpine Aire is also popular around our camp. Peak gives a pretty good discount to veterans/fire/etc. If you qualify.

Due to bad health, selling We No Nah Rendezvous (retired), along with paddles and many tripping items.

That is quite the package. I am sorry to hear that you are in such a difficult position. Spring is definitely a better time for sellers, at least over the past few years. I have noticed a significant cooling of the market as late, with sales taking longer and prices significantly lower than...

    NFCT Northstar B 16 raffle

I dont understand how their raffles work. I asked about the process during each of the last two and got no response. They don't provide confirmation numbers, odds, drawing method, or anything else. Seems odd. Don't get me wrong, I play every time because I like the organization, but the raffles...

    RIP Dan Cooke

We spoke at Canoecopia 2024 and it was evident he was unwell. I wish the family peace as they grapple with the holes left by his death. I have many pieces of gear from his business legacy. All are very well thought out and of quality workmanship. I hope to see the continuation of his name...

How do you deal with loud talkers?

I am the loud talker. I have a very large and resonant chest, which combine with my low baritone to create a sound that.... travels. Even with hushed tones, it just kinda rumbles along like a well-muffled V8. It is something I am conscious of (even a bit self-conscious), and I make sure to let...

Blue Steel Layup Inspection / Repair Advice

Nova Craft finally got back to me. They had much the same opinion as you folks. They also offered to sell me a full width piece of the matching material for $340. Do you think that would be worth it? Put a couple fiberglass patches down, epoxy the rib cracks, and then homogenize the interior...

What is your favorite tree and why?

The white oak. Stout, hardy, and provider of food for my favorite game species. The late falling leaves protect birds in the winter and add cover to my late season hunts. I love the shapes of the lobed leaves, and the straight grained wood makes fine furniture.
