Thanks for the reply. The picture is just an example of the same canoe and the thwart I want to remove on it. Not an actual picture of my royalex canoe.
I'm thinking about removing one of the Yoks on my 16ft royalex canoe. I know some of these are put in for structural support. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this or if anyone thinks this will cause any problems. I just want the extra room and I'm thinking it will be OK with just the main yok.
It is gel coated. Could I just use a gel coat repair kit? Could I use Total boat gel coat white "my canoe is white" without wax for the first layer. Then follow up with a second layer of total boat gel coat with wax? wenonah offered a gel coet repair kit for my canoe but they don't make it anymore.
Mike thanks for the great reply, perfect directions with products to use for someone who doesn't know much. Im going to do this exactly. Thanks! 2 coats of 207 lightly sanding inbetween then finish with minwax helmsman spar urethane.
So I know absolutely nothing about repairing canoes. I have a Wenonah canoe in a tuff weave flex core lay up. The bottom is getting really scratched up and most of the clear coat is gone. I would like to put something down over the bottom just for some light extra protection. Whats the easy way...
My Royalex canoe has a small 1" crack thru the 1st layer, thinking I could just get a kevlar patch and put down the 105 over it? I'm not concerned about looks, just want a reliable fix.
Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the west system 105/207. Would one quart of 105 and one pint of 207 be enough to cover the bottom of a canoe? or do I need more.
I have a Wenonah Canoe in there flex core lay up and most of the clear coat is gone and starting to look a little thin in spots. Whats the best stuff to apply to seal and add a little protection to the bottom? Also have a royalex lay up thats been through alot, would be nice to apply something...
