    Mohawk Blazer 16

Mine is fiberglass. I have used it with a double-bladed kayak paddle both solo and tandem. At the moment I own two kayak paddles and zero traditional canoe paddles, so I don't really have a choice, but I like the speed that the double-bladed paddle offers anyway.

    Greetings !

Welcome, Craig! I'm a subscriber on youtube. I enjoy watching your videos. I also subscribe to "It's good in the woods," and it's fun watching each of your videos of after you go on trips together. Keep up the good stuff!

    Bag vs barrel

Sweet rig. What brand of cover is that? I like how it stretches over the gear in the back. Thanks.

Where do you carry your canoe trip knives and what are they?

My most used knife is a bright orange Mora Companion. I use it for opening food packages and cutting up food. It stays in the food barrel. I keep a Victorinox Classic in a internal pocket of a duffle bag. I mainly use it for the scissors and the tweezers. I bring a Terävä Jääkäripuukko for...

    Bag vs barrel

I started off using a bear canister for my food, but last year I purchased a RBW 30 liter barrel and organizers and switched to using that. It simplified my approach quite a bit. I'm able to keep my food and cooking kit in one container. The 30 liter barrel is a good size for me. The...

    Mr. Heater Cooker

My trips are generally only a few days with little or no portaging, so it's not bad to bring along, but yeah, on a longer trip with portages I probable wouldn't bring it. I've never had a problem with mine, and the guy who introduced me to it has had his for many years with no issues. I wonder...

    Mr. Heater Cooker

Does anyone else take one of these on trips? I have been using one for the last few years. Since I have had it I rarely have a campfire. I'll use the heater for warmth and for cooking. No gathering and processing wood or breathing in smoke all night. On the low setting the one pound tanks...

    Mohawk Blazer 16

The weather was windy, cold, and rainy, so I didn't get out fishing. I did fish a bit from shore with no luck. I brought the kitchen sink on this trip, and the canoe handled the load with room to spare. On the water it was fast and it tracked well. It felt pretty stable. I'm finding it to...

    Poll: Socks and Sandals?

Well, Mr. Knox, ask the fox on a box. My crocs go with socks and that is what rocks. Through locks and on docks, see my crocs and my socks. Though it shocks and one mocks oh my sandals and socks, my heart ticks and it tocks for my socks and my crocs.

    Rodents

A house that we rented years ago had a bad flying squirrel problem. You could hear them in the walls all throughout the house. It was an old house with a dirt floor basement. I set up a bucket trap in the basement and checked it about a week later. The water was cloudy but I could see some...

    Mohawk Blazer 16

Last weekend I picked up a Mohawk Blazer 16. It's an '82. The red has faded, but other than that it's in great shape. It was a bargain. The canoe is 16' long and 36" wide. I don't know how much it weighs. It's heavy, but I am able to get it on and off the car by myself, so it's manageable...

    Favorite camp chair

When I was backpacking a lot I brought a Crazy Creek chair. Here it is (lower right) along with a guitar on a trip to the Shelving Rock area on the east side of Lake George. Once I started canoeing I switched to a Coleman folding camp chair. Last year I bought a Helinox Sunset chair and I...

Who sleeps on the the newer light cots?

It sure is! I'm a big Jerry Garcia / Dead fan. Listening to Bertha as I type. Dire Wolf is a great boat name.

Show pictures of your tent(s) on a canoe trip

When I go with a buddy of mine we call it hobo camping. Figuring out how to rig the tarps up to build a makeshift shelter is always fun. The yellow tarps are CCS and the camo tarp is a Warbonnet Superfly. Weller Pond Long Lake Upper Saranac Lake

Werner Cyprus Carbon Paddle - Adjustable 220-240 cm

I bought this last summer and used it maybe twice. I found that it was too long for me so I bought a shorter paddle. The paddle is in mint condition. $400
