    Naming a B-17 Northstar Canoe

We named our B-19 "Himmarshee". Its Indian, meaning "new river". Its significant to my wife and I growing up along the banks of the new river in Ft. Lauderdale. Legend has that the Seminole woke one morning to an earthquake and flood, creating at "new river", to which they named the body of water.

    Northstar canoes are solid dudes.

So I posted a thread before when I had reached a point of frustration with a purchase and subsequent delivery of my B-17. Instead of resurrecting the old thread, I just wanted to make a new one to shout out Northstar, Bear, Ted, and Dan. I paddled my B-17 through the season while they were...

    Hot tents

late the the party here, but heres my ultralight hot tent. Its a seek outside guardian. I think tent and stove come to 5 pounds or so. Carbon poles, Zipperless doors. I use their medium stove and it does well! Big enough for two and luxurious for one.

Advice on severely long boat lead time.

Absolutely, I’m not going to rough up the boat. I’ll use the same caution I would if i were keeping that one. Appreciate the advice Glenn!

Advice on severely long boat lead time.

I received a phone call from Bear at northstar this afternoon. It was a pleasure to speak with Bear on the phone. Bear went above and beyond to apologize for the issues surrounding the boat and reassured me that they would make it right. He offered to build a new boat for me, meanwhile...

I have zero experience in these types of situations and my posts here aren’t necessarily to put northstar on blast or Minnesota canoes, but to seek other’s opinions on how to navigate such a situation.

Advice on severely long boat lead time.

The options presented to me have been by northstar have been left wanting, and the dealer, Minnesota Canoes, have been non existent. The boat left the factory in that condition, made it to the dealer, the dealer failed to inspect, and verbatim “just threw it on the trailer” without even removing...

Advice on severely long boat lead time.

So I finally received the boat, unfortunately in disappointing condition. The hull is riddled with pinholes deep into the fiber, the anodizing on the starboard gunnel is covered with water spotting or some sort of stain from poor anodizing. The lining hole grommets are glued over exposed fibers...

Unfortunately my experience is contrary to yours and has continued to disappoint. My boat showed up and the fit and finish was sub par. The dealer didnt bother inspecting the canoe and im left having to figure out what to do.

This may just be a dealer issue. My initial experience with northstar was not bad at all. They responded quickly to all my questions and ideas.

Im hopeful the performance of the boat will outshine my woes with the process.

Advice on severely long boat lead time.

Ok guys after a lengthy email to Northstar on Wednesday, I received a text from the dealer that my boat was delivered to him two days earlier, however I was not notified. Also Northstar didn’t respond to my email directly but I was told in text that Northstar told the dealer I was looking for an...

Advice on severely long boat lead time.

Im worried about canceling because I was required to purchase the boat upfront to place the custom order, which wasnt even all that crazy, just ww eyelets, lining holes, walnut trim and cut down seat drops. The dealer claimed the boat was damaged during removal from the mold but no explanation...

I emailed northstar direct to discuss the build then made the purchase through the dealer. I have been communicating via both email and text.
