    Maine Canoe Poling

Poled up the Passagassawakeag in 2007. It was pretty nice though we did more than was fun in a day. I'd love to go back and spend a few days poling up and down that stream.

    Finding a bear

All them moose are hanging out up on Rt 16. I've seen some black bears here in New England. Seen enough fresh scat and sign to think there are plenty I didn't see. The only ones that hung around long enough to make me nervous were campground bears. Last one I saw was in Franconia Notch across Rt...

    poling while seated

I sometimes "pole" off the bottom with my paddle when tying to get back upstream in shallow water in my whitewater boat. I'm kneeling and using two hands on the paddle. It's reasonably effective but not as strong as standing with a pole. It's VERY tough on the paddle.

    Tent for Glenn MacGrady

Northern Forest Canoe Trail trip plans-http://50littlebirds.com/

I've done many sections (2,3,4,5(but not the Missisquoi),6,7,8,11,12(but not the Mud Pond carry),13) with Riverstrider and crew. I'm lazy and HATE to carry. There are quite a few roads on the NFCT. I've been surprised at the places I could wrestle the cart through including the Raquette Falls...

    Carbon Straight

I believe I am the some people mentioned. I have an older Zav straight with the blade centered on the shaft. I love that stick and use it anywhere I think I can keep it off the rocks. It does have the asymmetrical grip and I palm roll it all day without really noticing. I've tried the newer Zav...

    CUV Tires and Logging Roads

I was up to Seboomook paddling the ledges last week. On the way out a vicious rock attacked my left rear tire. Punched a big gash from the sidewall down into the tread. Fortuately my spare was good and there were no more such incidents. The car is a 2006 Rav4 Sport with 18" aluminum wheels. Any...
