Paddling you've done outside of the USA and Canada

Had a lovely little trip on the river Wye today in Herefordshire, about 5-6 miles. Really shallow in parts (it's been quite dry here recently) and only a few inches deep in places. We hit the bottom a couple of times and crashed into a rock in a fast section (oops)! It was great fun! You'll...

    Canoe paddle collectors

These are ours from when the children were smaller - about 4 and 6. They are now 10 and 13 and have larger ones, but this picture always makes me smile :) I've been paddling recently with a club ottertail, grey owl guide. I think I need an ottertail, I just love how it slices back through the...

    Hello from the UK

Yes, I shared a nice little selection of her photos with the club after our Sunday paddle. She had fun and that's the main thing :)

    Hello from the UK

Just looked at your pictures - that swan means business!

    Hello from the UK

Hi :) I really thought the male swan was going to attack, wings high on it's back and neck bent into itself - pushing in hard bursts. It just seemed to carry on past us and I breathed a sigh of relief. I love that you have names for the trouble makers :D I've been to Prague, lovely city...

    Mad River Canoe, manufacturing location

Yes, I appreciate it's nothing particularly special, was just trying to work out where it was made. The hull looks good, never any problems and if it didn't weigh so much I'd just keep it. I wondered if it was made before they moved production to the kayak factory as I have been told the older...

Thank you - yes, I don't know if it was finished here or not. I was surprised not to find a little metal plate with a serial number on it, but as you say, there might be different regulatory requirements here - no idea. Looking at the link, I want to visit now - it looks lovely! :)...

I think it's probably option number one as it's all pretty even and hasn't really been bashed around in a way that would cause this problem.

    Hello from the UK

Thank you :) I didn't realise that - always happy to post lots of swan pics. We went past these quite fast and gave them a wide berth as the Cob (not pictured) looked pretty angry.

    Hello from the UK

Oh, selfies are very popular here too. My daughter doesn't have her own phone, but she did take approximately 150 photos yesterday using mine, random bits of riverbank etc, one selfie. I love the photos on this page - moose and mountains - amazing! We managed a swan with some signets...

    Hello from the UK

Thank you :) Sounds like a good trip, Scotland is beautiful! I haven't paddled up there but plan to in the next few years. I've been hiking there and the scenery is stunning. Hope you get to come back and explore one day.

    Hello from the UK

The licence is required on the Thames and also Oxford canal - possibly other waterways but I'm not sure what ones. The funds go towards waterway maintenance and also for the locks, generally via the environment agency or the canal and river trust. Didn't go through any locks yesterday and...

    Hello from the UK

Hello, Came upon this site the other day and seemed friendly and helpful. I first paddled nearly 30 years ago on holiday on the Bow River at Cochrane, Alberta. It was amazing! Have spent most of my time paddling on the Thames in Oxford or the canal. Didn't paddle regularly for about 10 years...

    Mad River Canoe, manufacturing location

Thank you. Might do but not sure as I don't want to damage it any more than it already is. I'm surprised it isn't somewhere more accessible, seems odd.
