In the videos I have watched I haven’t seen anything that makes the river look littered. It’s possible that it’s been cleaned up now that it’s considered a Provincial park. If I see an abundance of litter on our trip I will be sure to let everyone know.
I’m going to try to attend the outdoor...
Good Evening,
As the weather in Ontario starts to warm up I am beginning to look ahead at my schedule for 2022 Paddling Season and start creating some real plans instead of just daydreaming.
I have always been interested in paddling the length of the French River between Lake Nipissing and...
I’m glad you are enjoying it. I agree with you 100%. Algonquin is beautiful but can seem overcrowded at times. I usually find the really crowded feeling always seems to be on southern access point lakes. Once you get a few portages in from an access point the numbers are much better. The...
The food drop was certainly not out of necessity but when we looked at the trip plan it was going to work out perfectly. It wasn’t that far out of the way. We would be passing right past the food drop access point the day that we left the MacKaskill Cabin and our day of long portaging would have...
Happy New year.
The weather where I am has now turned cold and the canoe has been cleaned up, repaired and stored for the winter. I will now spend the next few months planning for the spring and watching YouTube videos of other peoples trips to help me get through until the spring arrives.
In...
Yellowcanoe - or anyone else that’s interested, we posted a short video with a brief story about the Beckwith cabin, video and photos that we took while we were at the site.
As others have indicated its going to be important to assess the situation as you go. Shallow bodies of water can become very wavy with low wind speeds. While other bodies of water might still be very calm. The direction of the wind is important as well. If you are getting waves that are pushing...
We also considered going around that channel. The rock cut seemed like it would be tough to get through with the boat and gear.
The outfitter had told us to line that area, we were actually a bit shocked when we got there because we were expecting it to be shallow and slow moving.
I had a...
The videos do take some time and effort. It’s nice to put them together a few months after the trip. It lets you relive it again.
I am glad I got the chance to see the Beckwith location before the wilderness completely takes it over. It’s a really impressive site and its a shame that more...
I’ve been meaning to write a post about this for quite some time but kept putting it off.
At the start of August I had the chance to spend 8 days inside Wabakimi provincial park. The park for those that don’t know it is located north of Thunder Bay Ontario.
It took appx 23 hours for us to...
Welcome, I've spent some time in the Penticton and Kelowna area over the last few years but haven't had a chance to do any paddling out there yet. Looks like it would be an amazing spot to be on the water.
Thanks all. Yes it was a tough trip but primarily it was Birchcliffe creek that was the really challenging part. I agree with Sweeper. If I was going to do this trip again I would avoid Birchcliffe and come around through 3 mile.
In the end it was probably a good experience to have. Give you an...
Hey Everyone. My name is Rich and I am new to the forum. I’d like to thank Doug for responding to my request to join so quickly and for taking the time to research the brand of boat I own and saying nice things about it. I wanted to get active on here as soon as possible so I thought I would...
