When my mother died I found a photo of me when I was 3 years old in her scrapbook. I am standing on a beach staring at a small skiff about 3' away. My mother had written on the back, "He loves boats!" Fast forward 74 years and I'm loving 'em still. I've owned more boats than cars including skiffs, hydroplanes, various types of sailing craft, canoes, sea kayaks, and powerboats. After getting a Maine Guide's license I started the first sea kayaking guide service in Maine in 1978. In the early 1990s I got a Captain's License from the Coast Guard and opened a charter boat company. Retired now at age 77 I'm looking to buy a small light solo canoe that my decrepit body can lift on to the roof of my Rav 4…can't wait to get back into canoeing!
