I was asking myself the same thing. The weather report of rain and high wind that I heard did not look very good. It was hard to convince myself to drive the many miles to the event. I hope those that did attend did well and had a good time.

It's really good to see this old school skill and knowledge used and passed along. As a wood craftsman of 27 years, I enjoy the fact that there are still people that respect the old ways.

I have several gas stoves that I have used over the years. The stoves have several different burner heads and the one that I prefer is the stove that has a burner head similar to this model. The head seems to spread the flame and heat over a larger area which suits the light weight camping pots...

Sorry, can't help you with the poling thing. I know we have had lots of rain, water should not be a problem.

Great idea. This is another method I have used many times. Light weight and keeps you out of the dirt.
