I've still got and use my old Germany Solingen camping knife that I've had since college in 1967. I can still remember the day I got it, paid the outlandish price of $ 2.00 for it. Hard to sharpen but when you do it keeps an edge forever.

I saw a video with Kevan Callan the Happy Camper that used one. I guess they must work😀. It would be interesting to see, I think a field test and report is in order.
We had an excellent scout troop. Our Scoutmaster was a local WW2 hero to us young boys, that not only taught us outdoor skills but what it meant to be a family man, good citizen and member of society.
The old timers are always telling the younger generation how it was so much colder back when they were a kid. Is this true or just a bunch of talk?

2024 was a good year for me. I was able to check off items on my trip list, making 8 multi-day trips to the Adirondacks. Now that I have a canvas wall tent and stove I hope to get an early start this Spring.
The Lows Lower Dam repair project has been taking longer than expected, has anyone heard when it might reopen. Weather forecasters predict a warmer than usual Fall. Would be nice to squeeze in a quick trip.
