I once had a roommate from northern MB that scolded... "You Yanks want to be French in all the wrong places." Therefore I use "Portidge" and also out of fear now say "howkey".
Finally getting back to this. Purchased a MSR Hubba Hubba LT 3. Spent 6 wet, cold, windy nights in Quetico with no leaks and minimal condensation. We love the light weight but it sure feels delicate. The conjoined spider of attached tent poles seems to be a hazzard if rushing raindrops or in the...

Introducing our 1979 frankensteined FORD E250/350 4x4. Our beloved Astro van is crapping out on so many fronts we needed to do something different. He bosts a 460-467 (rebuilt) engine, tranny, transfer case, etc. and gets an impressive 8MPG and is the perfect juxtoposition to canoe travel.
Unseasonably warm temps here in MN. This is a strange lake. Entire shoreline lined with drowned trees. Lake elevation has changed quick and drastic at some point in the past. Came across this "sunk" cabin.
Thanks for the insight Gamma1214. We are packing more clothes this trip for sure. Actually adding a 3rd pack with the upside of having the collective load spread out. No more 60lb packs.
Another Wabakimi question...We are most used to late summer water temp in Quetico and spend the entire trip with wet feet however never a problem. Any thoughts on this approach for Wabakimi the 1st two weeks of Sept?? Would it depend on the route?
