I'm thinking it's weather, not climate that puts water in Lake Mead.

I bought a three seat Mad River and felt the same way. Just didn't click on that middle seat, UNTIL a 60 inch beaver tail paddle turned up at a yard sale. Oh man, what a difference! It turns out all I needed was a better paddle.

It just hit me that I never posted a picture of this canoe after it got new paint and some wood replaced. Here they are:

The Salt river is channeled off into irrigation canals here in the desert. And yep, I used to canoe the canal near my house. Back in the day those canals were dirt and often lined here and there with big mature Cottonwood trees. There were small fish, turtles, water snakes and even Muskrats...

Wow! That is just stunning. Also drop dead gorgeous. Hope to see pics of that guided missile in the water soon.

Thank you everyone for kind words of encouragement! I took the little canoe to the park this morning for a test drive. It is pretty much as everyone said. Tender getting in, but once in and centered, you're good to go. And it does go pretty well, too. My beavertail paddle helps it scoot right...

Two canoes on a Harbor Freight trailer works well also. Pulled that behind the Honda CRV and it's so light it doesn't slow the car at all.
