Lake Mead plummets to unprecedented low

Understand this: That much water, Mead and Powell, in the middle of the desert is not natural. If those two lakes were formed by nature and were now drying up, then maybe one could assume the climate was changing. But Lake Mead and also Lake Powell are nothing more than man made water holding...

Lake Mead plummets to unprecedented low

I'm thinking it's weather, not climate that puts water in Lake Mead.

    What am I doing wrong?

I bought a three seat Mad River and felt the same way. Just didn't click on that middle seat, UNTIL a 60 inch beaver tail paddle turned up at a yard sale. Oh man, what a difference! It turns out all I needed was a better paddle.

Old Town Katahdin 12, Canoe or Jon boat?

It just hit me that I never posted a picture of this canoe after it got new paint and some wood replaced. Here they are:

What is your local day paddle?

Kiwanis Park, Tempe, Az. Just a city park with an 11 acre pond, but it is 1 mile from my driveway. Thinking about coming up with wheels so I can tow the canoe with my bicycle. This picture was taken in the middle of December

What was the first river you ever paddled?

The Salt river is channeled off into irrigation canals here in the desert. And yep, I used to canoe the canal near my house. Back in the day those canals were dirt and often lined here and there with big mature Cottonwood trees. There were small fish, turtles, water snakes and even Muskrats...

Dagger Sojourn for sale near me

Thank you everyone for kind words of encouragement! I took the little canoe to the park this morning for a test drive. It is pretty much as everyone said. Tender getting in, but once in and centered, you're good to go. And it does go pretty well, too. My beavertail paddle helps it scoot right...

Carrying a gun when canoe traveling just because

I had a Colt 1911 when a bear came into camp. Had the gun in my hand ready to go. But seriously, looking at the size of the bear, my pistol suddenly felt like a kids squirt gun. I just knew if I shot him he would take the gun away and beat me to death with it. As the bear ate everything he...

Dagger Sojourn for sale near me

OK, I bought the Dagger Sojourn yesterday. It was not as new and nice as the seller said, so after some intense negotiations, I bought it for $400. First two pics are washed and second two pics are 303 Protectant treated. Seems like the seat is extra wide. One of the foot rests is broken and...

I am very happy, delighted even, with my '94 Kevlar Malecite.

Dagger Sojourn for sale near me

Arizona is a bad place to sell a good canoe. My son works at REI and he said no one ever asks for a canoe any more. They do want paddle boards. That's the fad now. In fact, paddle boards to do yoga on. Yoga on a paddle board?? Lance, I bought my Mad River Malecite in Kevlar for $450 in Tucson...

Arizona is a terrible place to sell a quality canoe, but a wonderful place to buy one.

Poll: What type of vehicle is your usual canoe vehicle currently?

Two canoes on a Harbor Freight trailer works well also. Pulled that behind the Honda CRV and it's so light it doesn't slow the car at all.
