Welcome from another CT paddler! I just took my kids on a 9 mile paddle on the Farmington this past weekend. :)

I use Yakima gunwhale brackets and camlock straps. As long as you have everything snug enough so it doesn't wiggle around, you're good. Two belly straps and, at the very least, a bow tie down. I tie the stern down as well.

Good news, but I'll wait it out and see how it performs over the next 5 or so years.

For those of you who exclusively use either twig stoves or open fire, do you carry another stove in the event of a fire ban?

I appreciate your thoughts! I haven't paddled on Fourth before so I will definitely keep your warning in mind. I do wonder why they chose this spot if it's notoriously windy and rough. It's not like there are a lack of sites in the ADK.
