    Canoe cockpit luggage?

i still frequently ponder this idea for luggage for canoes. bikers have a jillion options. what if we cd stick pouches here and there and they'd stay put but also peel off to take em outta the boat... everybody is juryrigging all this stuff. well, a few companies mold the cup holder... if i go...

    Canoe cockpit luggage?

nice! thoughtful designer w that molded feature -- i could maybe add something like that w cut'n'glued foam. thanks for all the good notions. i suppose we all jury-rig and adapt. i like the idea of maybe having glue-backed D-rings to go w a soft-cooler. that 16x6x6 shape sounds good. it's...

    Canoe cockpit luggage?

Thanks for the ideas! (...And that looked like a well-organized family boat trip in that linked pic!) I'm liking the idea of installing an accessory thwart in front of my feet -- a 6" wide piece of wood, say, w drink holder and socket-mounts for GPS, phone, and a handy flat surface for fiddling...

    Canoe cockpit luggage?

I want a canoe cockpit. Fabric pouches for drinks snax phone easy access. Lay out fishing lures. Make a sandwich. Maybe a bit of flat surface. Snap on. Buckle clips cinch it snug. Maybe located at sides. Maybe in front. Maybe wrap around. Zippers? Waterproof pouch option? Do such things exist...

    Quick aluminum gunnel repair?

I have a hand-me-down big ol' Minn 3 kevlar canoe. The mid-section of the gunnel on each side is broken thru and bent a bit. Looks like a side impact -- one side shoved in the other side shoved out, thanks to the thwart. There are also slices thru the hull. I'm going to be doing serviceable...

Wenonah (and race-like) hulls vs. Others (such as V. Kruger)?

Hey, I just did a quick search and it looks like I'm the only one to have spoken the "Verlen" word here. ? *** Are there canoe demos in Michigan? There's the two big sea kayaking symposia, but what about canoes? (Does Canoecopia do demo'ing? I've never attended but really want to. The chance...

Wenonah (and race-like) hulls vs. Others (such as V. Kruger)?

Are there canoe demos in Michigan? There's the two big sea kayaking symposia, but what about canoes? (Does Canoecopia do demo'ing? I've never attended but really want to. The chance to paddle a buncha boats would push me even harder to get over there. But it's on next year's must-do already...

Wenonah (and race-like) hulls vs. Others (such as V. Kruger)?

Technique and flex aside, I'm interested in ruminations (and/or links to same) about how the various hull shapes feel, with thoughts that incl the race/Wenonah-shape and Verlen Kruger shape.

Wenonah (and race-like) hulls vs. Others (such as V. Kruger)?

Hardly ever try kneeling. I'll give it a shot sometime. I have a pretty decent race technique and SUP, too. I haven't used a straight blade in eons. I like canoe poling and canoe standup for our local shallows.

Wenonah (and race-like) hulls vs. Others (such as V. Kruger)?

Also, any comparison of Wenonah shape to Verlen Kruger shape... Anyone dabble in both deep ends of the pond? :)

Wenonah (and race-like) hulls vs. Others (such as V. Kruger)?

Yeah, I'll try some more variety. I don't put feet under seat. Yikes. That sounds painful. I like foot-braces (and straps) and might try them in the Malecite. Yeah, all boats seem to have harsh speed limits, eh? Even race boats are like only 1mph faster than cruisers. It's a slow-speed...

Wenonah (and race-like) hulls vs. Others (such as V. Kruger)?

Looks like you mean this: http://www.edscanoe.com/seathanger.html. Looks good for stabilizing the seats. I wonder if they will also tend to stabilize the sides of the hull. Then there's the flexiness of the bottom. I was thinking that foam wedges under the seats would do the trick. And maybe...

Wenonah (and race-like) hulls vs. Others (such as V. Kruger)?

I've mostly paddled Wenonah boats and other race-type hulls. I paddle flatwater rivers. I'm thinking I might want to get a different feeling boat to paddle. The race type hulls might be feeling too "technical" and sterilely efficient. With their flat sections amidships and total flat...

Flatwater poling video -- with canoe standup -- and scootering!

Poling isn't just for New England whitewater! Standup isn't just for boards! Scootering isn't just for skateboards! Obstacle action isn't just for cyclocross! PS... I sell a nice aluminum pole at my OutYourBackdoor website for $60 mailed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syxXTSsOpkk

Remove hog from hull to improve turns?

Well, I extended the thwarts and that seems to have gotten rid of the hog. Here's a report with pics: http://outyourbackdoor.com/newarticle.php?id=2082. Yeah, sanding off the bow and stern ends also sounds like a neat idea. That's next if it still doesn't turn enough. I bet it'll lean a long...
