Tripping on and getting a permit for the John Day River, Oregon

Go now, water is dropping fast. I just got off yesterday from almost a week on the water. I did the Service creek to Clarno section and had a few layover days for fun and relaxation. Had some nice sunshine and hammock time, showers, freezing overnight temps, a few great day hikes, and only saw a...

    What got you into canoeing?

Some great responses here, always fun to hear the origin stories. For me, the passion began at a young age, I was probably 7 or 8 when I first went out in a canoe. I grew up in the southern Missouri Ozarks and was fortunate enough to be nearby neighbors/friends with East Wind community, an...

    Photo of the day

    What are you reading?

Funny timing, I literally just picked up a copy of this book at a thrift store in Sister, Oregon yesterday! I’m saving it to read on a little trip to Mexico in January, so won’t be able to report back for a while, but it looks like a great read.

    Throwback Thursday Photos

A couple of fun ones of my sister and I showing our early love of the water! Found them when looking through old pics at my grandma’s house last winter.
