    A couple of poling vid's

Thank you, Steve. Indeed I once tried to do some "stand up paddling" in my ACDC, but I am afraid it would be a long way until I'd be able to do some poling in it. But that would be the case in almost any boat, I guess  The AC/DC is not a little, but a whole lot more sporty than the...

    Freedom 17 Strip build

Did you sit or kneel? If you prefer sitting, lowering the seats a bit might help.

    Freedom 17 Strip build

Wysedav, did you have this beauty out on the water already? Very impressive build, looks great. I am really curious about your impressions!

Video of 4 days solo at Marshall Lake, Ontario

Great nature, great attitude, great filming - and a darn cool canoe trolley!

    Canvas tent ponderings

Jim, not really a canoe full. A Tentipi with 5,3m diameter and 3,1m height weights around 14kg in polycotton. Sure, compared to a lightweight plastic tent this is a lot - but being able to use a tent stove to get the moisture out is well worth it. Going for a trip with lots of portages though, I...

    Canvas tent ponderings

Over here (Germany) so called Nordic Tipis (made of poycotton) are quite common when it comes to canoeing, often combined with a wood stove: http://www.juergenborris.de/bilder-b...er-tipi-lager/ http://www.g-o-c.de/berichte/1185-wintertour-ognon-2015

Hmmm... shorter might just be the ticket

Charlie, are you using cross forward strokes while tripping / touring on flat water? To me cross strokes are some kind of awkward still, so I use them only on rivers - and even then, only when it is really unfavorable to loose a bit of speed.

Haha, yes, this "technique" seems to work well for bow paddlers! But from your pics I see you've learned from it and put your wife in her own boat :D My son will learn how to solo this weekend, we'll see if he hangs on to it. Regarding camping: In Germany you're not allowed to just put your...

    Photo of the day

No Title Errr...I just wanted to put a picture here. The seat screw has not become loose - I raised the seats for better kneeling and missed to cut them  There is a cap at the end of the screw - maybe you thought this would be the nut? Regarding the "trip" - it was more some kind...

    A couple of poling vid's

Hope Robin doesn't regret verifiing my account, as I am posting serious OT here... Canotrouge, being located in northern Germany the next WWIII is far away from me. I have paddled my Prospector through some II+, but the AC/DC has just seen moving water and the one or other ledge or shorter...

    A couple of poling vid's

Steve, these are really cool and very impressive clips - thank you! As you mentioned to be interested in the AC/DC: I am have one since last year, after paddling a NC Prospector (15,6 SP3) a few years. Once I tried a NC 16' Prospector in RX light, but found that to be even more sluggish than...
