    Wabakimi info

Awesome info. Would you be able to share contact info for Clem, Don and the First Nation shuttle guy? Maybe message me if you don’t want to share publicly. Thanks so much.

    Wabakimi info

I will have all of next summer free and have a wild dream of circumnavigating Wabakimi. This would be a solo trip. Is this even possible? Does anyone with Wabakimi experience have any idea how long this might take? Like I said, it’s a wild dream and I haven’t yet started to plan this trip...

    Anyone Use This Type Shelter?

I slept in a similar shelter for a seven night river trip two years back. The nylon tab that receives the cross pole on my bridge hammock broke while setting it up, and I was forced to seek shelter in my Eureka bug shelter for the rest of the trip. It rained several nights, and the wind blew a...

3-4 weeks next summer: where to go?

This would be a solo trip. Lakes and/or rivers (but definitely not The BWCA). I’d paddle up to Class II rivers and portage everything above that. I don’t have any other constraints so am open to all suggestions. What have you got?

3-4 weeks next summer: where to go?

I’m looking for suggestions for a three to four week paddle next summer. I live in New England and would prefer to keep my driving time to four days or less one way.

Rutabaga Paddlesports in Madison, Wisconsin, is Closing (NO - Staying Open)

Historically, limited access to capital has been true for every generation, not just millennials. And in every generation an enterprising few have found a way. Besides, if the plan is to shut it down and sell off the assets, then I would imagine a motivated seller would be flexible on the price...

Rutabaga Paddlesports in Madison, Wisconsin, is Closing (NO - Staying Open)

While I empathize with that desire, it does deny the rest of us access to a paddle specific store, even if that store becomes something different over time. This is especially concerning after the loss of White Rose Canoe earlier this year. Also, as a 65 year old, I don’t agree with his...

Rutabaga Paddlesports in Madison, Wisconsin, is Closing (NO - Staying Open)

So I’m a bit unclear. Is it that he has not found a buyer, or that he has simply decided not to sell it? .

Hi all. I know parking at Attean Pond launch on the Moose River Bow trip was closed for a while. Does none know if it is currently available? Thanks. Art

    Tahitian style paddling

I’ve been working on this style for a couple of years and have found that it applies to canoes quite well. I know most of us don’t race or paddle for speed, but this technique is also efficient. Here are a couple of links: or go here Tahitian technique 1 Or go here Tahitian technique 2

    Foot/ankle support when kneeling

Let me advise that it simply takes time in the boat to stretch out your ankles. It took me a year and half before I could comfortably paddle an hour and a half while kneeling. Now, two years later, I’m paddling two hours and 45 minutes four times a week while kneeling and find it comfortable. I...
