So, what's everyone's preference for strip thickness? For my last boat I used 1/4" strips. It's a great boat but I think 1/4" was just too thick.

Is anybody using 3/16"? How does that work out? Anybody using anything thinner?

Just trying to get as much weight out of my current build as possible.

Thanks in advance.

I've built about 15 boats. Only used 1/4" strips once to cover an entire hull. Once or twice I used 1/4" on the bottom and 3/16" above waterline. Most of the other times I've used 3/16". A few times I've used thinner than that. Some of those got 6oz glass inside and out. Some got 4oz inside and out. Some got double layer bottoms either inside or outside and some of them were covered with carbon or kevlar.

That's the fun of making your own boats. You know how you plan to use it so build it accordingly.
