I see a business opportunity here...Imagine scuba diving for all that stuff. Kinda like retrieving golf balls in a pond.

I have often thought about bringing my mask and snorkel for some impromptu salvaging while tripping. My brother lost a very expensive pair of sunglasses, not in a dump, just overboard. I'd like to return them to him for Christmas one year. Wouldn't that be a trick!

Never lost anything on a capsize, but did find 5 litres of water in my 5 litre drybag carrying camera batteries!

When my boys were young we tried magnet fishing below a small rapid that is notorious for flipping novice paddlers. I had a couple of very strong magnets on long strings tied to the end of poles. We retrieved an assortment of rusty knives and a key ring, but nothing of value. Still a fun treasure hunt day.
