Hello guys I'm looking for either a duluth or woods canoe pack. Looking for around 4200 cubic inches. Either a Woods no. 200 or the Duluth equivalent. The pack must have a tumpline. I'm not looking to pay an arm and a leg for a pack, I am interested in a good quality used pack in good shape. Please send me a message with what you have. PayPal is the best payment for me.

Thanks, Alex

Usually someone parts with a Duluth or Woods only when there is a death in the family or someone gets too old to paddle.

There are lots of people making new versions of them...google around and you will find them. Be prepared to pay a couple of hundred dollars.

Try ...Alder Stream Canvas. Nice looking packs on their site.

where are you located -- i just passed on a like-new woods #200 for $125cdn in niagara-falls ontario...

i have too-many canvas packs...

Not to rub it in but I just lucked out and picked up a "new/old" Duluth pack. A program I work for is cleaning out their equipment room of old gear to get rid of some items. Duluth packs are on that list so I inventoried what was there, put aside the 8 best ones in the lot (they wanted to keep that many only) and then sorted the remaining bags in 3 bins: no straps or buckles, just a few holes, the best of the bunch. Since I did the work I got to make the first selection. Other than a bit of fading in the canvas, all the leather straps are in great condition (supple and no gouges), the buckles are rust free and even the tumpline is still there. Based on the original inventory mark the pack was made in 1986 but it's in wonderful condition; it even has the "Made in America" label still inside. I fully expect to be able to pass this one on to my grandsons. I'll let them argue over who gets to keep it :D

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

That's great, glad to hear it's going to a tripper rather than sit in someones basement till it gets tossed. I have 4 DP's and 7 grandkids, I need to buy some more in the interest of fairness.

Robin - I continue to "use" my grandsons as justification for picking up gear. Now that my daughter had her third son, I needed to go out and get another solo canoe. Each one of them should have that bit of inheritance when the time comes in my humble estimation.

BTW...I'd use the arrival of a granddaughter in the same way. What the heck! I have two daughters and know how important our trips were in their development. I always felt incredibly lucky that my oldest daughter wanted nothing but a 3 day canoe trip for her 7th birthday; her younger sister wasn't willing to wait so we did a shorter one for her 5th birthday the next summer.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

hehe, i snapped up his campfire tent at easter -- did he show you the tremblay in the garage?

No. Actually I sent my sister, in Wainfleet, to get it from him and ship it to me. I didnt know he has a Tremblay stashed in his garage. I have one in my garage too...lol.
