To post a poll thread, start the same way you would to start a new discussion thread, using the Polls forum as your target forum.

- Above the text entry box for your new thread, you will see tabs for "Discussion" (which is on by default), "Poll" and "Question".
- Select the "Poll" tab.
- In the thread title field, type in the title of your poll. I always prefix the title with "Poll: " to alert readers that this thread is a poll.
- In the text entry box, type poll instructions or other text, which may just be a reformulation of your poll question. If you leave the text entry box empty, you will be prompted to write something in there.
- In the "Question" field, type your exact poll question.
- In the "Possible responses" field, type in the first possible response to the poll. This will open up another response field below the first field.
- In the second response field, type in the second possible response to the poll. This will open up a third response field below the second.
- And so on. The maximum number of possible responses to a poll is set to 12.
- Then check the other Option boxes to customize the poll however you want. I usually allow folks to change their responses and don't set a closing date.
- Finally, hit the Post Thread button.
