A dangerous test

Here is Mickey Landry in the bow of an E.M. White Guide canoe with Bardy Jones in the stern at a Dave Curtis Canoe Symposium on Canadice Lake, NY, in 1981.

At the same symposium, Phil Siggelkow of Canoe Specialists/Blackhawk displays paddles.

They look like Blackburn paddles with the unidirectional cobra grip and cutaway necks, but I don't see the blade curve of the Lutra Pro S paddle. They may be the flat-faced Blackburn-Landry Honey Island paddles. Mike Galt gave me 15 degree Blackburn Honey Island bent in 1984 when I bought a Lotus BJX (Bardy Jones Express) from him in Tampa. I've used bents on non-moving water ever since, 98% of the time from my knees.
