I saw this odd animal along the river today. I felt compelled to look around for its friends before eddying out for a picture.

Heart-shaped graffiti under a bridge over the Eno River. Odd location because it really isn't visible from anywhere. Also odd because it was masked rather than free handed.
Normally graffiti is just crass, but this seems to work.

That is an odd looking marker. A wonderful was hanging on the other side? Feather, leg bone, so maybe a fish skeleton?

I agree that graffiti is usually crass but I found this along the Rocky River in Cleveland. Maybe the difference is that they look friendly? 
Looks like 1928 is carved into the rock
I think it also depends on where it is. If it's under a bridge in a built-up area hearts painted on a rock can be acceptable, the same thing in the backcountry, not so much.
