I'm looking at doing one of two loops I've been researching in the Kawartha Highlands. I know there are various cottages along some of the lakes, just not quite sure how many. Can anyone comment on the sense of remoteness you might find in the Kawartha Highlands? I'm probably going to do my trip in the off season. I don't mind running into a fellow paddler now and then, but I don't want to play bumper cars on the lakes either.
