After looking at ridiculously expensive portable camping tables, I decided to make one. I found an older aluminum Coleman stove stand for a couple of bucks at a thrift store. I worked some spuce wood to 3/8 x 2 inch strips and stapled straps on the under side so I could secure to frame. The top still slid around some, so I attached some stud guides for it to set on. I made this table February of last year and I have used several times. Not really something for back packing but at 7 pounds, bathroom scale for what it's worth, and 17 inches around, it packs well. Oh yes I made the bag for it on my wife's great grandmother's sewing machine. Go ahead and laugh at the old man sewing.

Nice add to the kit. I've got a couple working old sewing machines that I like better then my wife's new one.

Ahhhh yes very nice. I made my top out of thicker strips with bungee cord through them to hold it together. I rather like the stapled strips better. As noted, it is kind of a truck camping setup, but that is ok. I drag my coleman stand with me anyway so a bit of wood is not too tough to manage for the extra luxury that brings.. I also have one of those old Singer treadle machines but have no idea how to use one.

No laughing here either! YOU CAN SEW! Boy, do I have list of projects for you! ;-) I've been banned from the house sewing machines forever! Never seen a woman as mad as the better half was when I messed up her sewing machine!
