$2 thermarest pillow

I made a thermarest style pillow for a couple bucks today. It's just a piece of scrap foam that they sell at fabric stores that I stuffed into a gallon ziplock. It compresses down nice and flat and airs itself up in less than a second when you open the bag.

Ridiculous. Mine is much better. It cost me $35 or so but its a piece of foam stuffed in an airtight bag that compresses down nice and flat and airs itself up in less than a second when you open the valve.

Seeing how it's scrap from a fabric store, all you need now is a nice and soft pillow cover custom sewn for it!

Great idea Muskrat! Of course, I'm so cheap I'll just continue to use my fleece vest that I bring with me anyway Can't get enough of that fluffy softness on my face when sleeping at night.

My sleeping bag has a pillow pocket, so I'm not too worried about a cloth cover for now, but my lovely girlfriend will be on the case to sew me a case.

One detail I forgot to mention is that for the pillow to be collapsible the foam has to be open celled.
