In case someone is wondering here are some pics of one I saw at the canoe assembly.
I can’t really help you and not sure how to find the owner.
The pad in question is visible in the second pic.

That Honesteel is very similar to the Gerber one I have at the bottom of the pic.
I’ll have to keep an eye out for one of those Swix ski sharpeners.

Welcome John. If I can state to obvious, and keep in mind I’ve never assembled one but is the frame in correctly and is the cover centered on the frame? Bow of the frame to the bow of the cover? Again I’ve never assembled one. Other than that have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in...
That’s interesting using the string, pretty easy to adjust. In terms of the frame spacing, if you started from the bow you might notice it at the stern when the last frame fairs into the transom (I think it has a transom) it might seem a bit pinched. A batten along the shear should prove it out...
Thanks Al yup the knife came from Norway and is one of my favorites.
That was the same for me MyKnees but if I go a week or more I bring something and that something in now that 2” x 3” plate in the middle with the lanyard hole.

I don’t remember seeing a thread about keeping your tools sharp while on a trip so I’ll start here. I don’t believe I ever brought an actual sharpening stone on any trips. The knife and axe are well tuned up before I start. If I do bring something along it’s one of these. The knife has a three...
Glenn that is a wonderful fireplace for using a reflector oven.

I just remembered a friend of mine uses a service called ‘PirateShip’ to get a discount on shipping no matter which carrier you use. I did not know about it at the time I shipped the paddle , but I might be trying the service in the near future.

Two years ago I sent a straight wooden (sassafras) paddle to Idaho and it was around $70 through UPS. I just thought UPS would be better than USPS but maybe that was a mistake now looking at these prices upthread.

Nice job on the repair. Do you have all the guideboat hardware for the oars? The oars are not guideboat oars but if you have the rest of the oar lock set (4 sockets and 2 oar brackets for lack of a better term) that hardware alone is worth about $500 last I checked. That and proper oars if you...
Well I just had a good laugh at myself. When I saw that pic of your paddles I thought to myself I’ve got one just like that on the far right, a big Old Town with the label. Up thread I said I’d take a new pic ‘cause I couldn’t find my old group pic of my paddles and lo and behold I don’t have...
