Erica, I'll echo Gamma and implore you to invest in a good mask. Even little repairs and sanding can ding your lungs up badly, and if you have one, you're more likely to invest the time in more involved (or multiple) repairs.

Fishing barbless on a fly rod really improved my line handling, and fast. There are a few places I fish where it's a legal requirement, but after pinching a few barbs I do it out of habit now, and I don't regret the odd trout that slips off.

Ah, I should add I have size 15 feet with boots on them, which tends to confound even the most generous kneeling seat setup. The seat in the Wilderness was actually pretty neat, if very clanky, I had never seen it before. Ease of use at expense of tradition, which is always the way, I guess.
