PIctures of celebrities in canoes

At least Ned Beatty and Burt Reynolds appear to be vaguely familiar with how to hold paddles and the concept of tandem paddling. John Voight looks hopeless.

Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) at the right on a duck hunt in Sun Valley, Idaho, on Nov. 13, 1940, in a photo shoot for Life Magazine. Is there water there?

Is there water there?

I'm serious about this skepticism. I don't hunt ducks (or anything else), but I just wondered whether the canoe was just a prop for the magazine shoot. So I searched on duck hunting in Sun Valley, Idaho, and came upon this:

"There are not many places where you can duck hunt and plan on keeping your feet dry. Here at [Dry Foot Outfitters], we specialize in Mallards. To be more specific: Mallards over dry ground. Our world famous duck field sits next to the Hagerman Wildlife Refuge."

Yeah, there's something sinful in the background, but every rational eye will focus on Carol "Return to Peyton Place" Lynley (1942-2019).

Nothin' sinful about a Yakker drowning in a pool.

I will admit that I might not have noticed him in time to resuscitate if not for your heads-up and yeah, I know, he's practicing eskimo rolls... been there, learned to do them in a pool (and a yak).

The gorgeous member of the most famous and elegant dance duo in the history of the silver screen, Ginger Rogers (1911-1995) liked to canoe.

How did you do that?

I googled it and found that picture on Flickr. Whoever uploaded it was pointing out that the version that's all over the internet (with the kayak) is a photoshopped version and included the pics from the paddling magazine to show where the kayak originally came from.

Sharp-eyed skepticism and Sherlockism, Alan.

See, I said something "sinful" was in the background. So we not only have a picture of a kayak in a celebrities in canoes thread, but a FAKE kayak. Hmm . . . maybe that makes it more acceptable.

Carol stays. She may not have participated in rolling a kayak, but she did participate in rolling an entire ocean liner in the Poseidon Adventure (1972). See at 0:10 seconds and maybe other places:
