Has anyone ever applied Canvak to a canvas wall tent roof? Should I set the tent up and spray it on with a 2 gallons pump sprayer or paint it on with a brush?

I have NO experience so take this for what its worth

brush or spray.. As it has wax once the spirits evaporate would it gum up your sprayer? I have no idea.

Maybe reach out to Stephen Shellebean at Tentsmiths. He is quite knowledgeable all things canvas and quick with responding to emails in my experience
For what it’s worth

Robin,

I used to deer hunt out of a Bakker for years. Would set up early November and take down Mid January, also used as a base camp in Spring for a few weeks when Timber romping. Canvak will have a unique smell until dry and add some weight to your lodge. However, when I used a 2 gallon pump sprayer to the roof and let it dry it was fantastic at keeping rain and snow melt out of the tent. It works pretty well. I have heard of folks applying with a stiff brush - I never did. I just sprayed it on, set up the tent and let the Canvak set up. In a couple days the odor was gone, tent was dry - breathable and water tight .

Good luck.

Bob.

Thanks Bob,
I received the Canvac yesterday, going to set up the tent this morning and spray it, I appreciate you sharing your experience, just what I was looking for.
Rain is predicted for later in the week, so hopefully I’ll get a good test after the application.

So far so good. We had some heavy rain overnight and at first I thought the tent leaked, but after giving it the old garden hose test, the water just beads up and rolls off.
I did order a new CCS tarp though, just in case.
