Bought the Pioneer, awhile back, and just tested it out on a over nite canoe trip. Fit my solo perfect. Rugged as all get out !
It has a removable pad inside the pack, to cushion your back.
If anyone is interested, I'd go for it ! When I bought mine, I also bought the map case/thwart bag. I contacted them, and saved shipping on the thwart bag.
