Several times while paddling on a small local pond just as the sun struck the surface and began to heat the air I have been surrounded by several dozen “tornadoes” of mist. Small distinct independent columns 4-6 feet tall spinning and rising from the surface are mesmerizing. Never got a picture...
Education is fun! I enjoyed both taking and teaching classes. In life you can learn something every day…if you are paying attention. Looks like a really fun weekend.
Sorry to offer unsolicited advice but I would use bow and stern tie downs…especially in bad weather. I use them every time as I am scared of killing someone in a following car if straps or rack fail (both have been known to happen).
Just curious…where did you go in Ohio for installation help?
Can’t imagine moving the thwart a couple inches would be detrimental to hull integrity. I have moved thwarts many times without problems. You could always call Northstar for verification.
Outside diameter appears to be 1 1/4”. Always able to cut with tin snips if I recall….again, been many moons! It is stiff but will mellow with age/use though it takes some time. I have Yakima racks with gunnel stops so tubing must be placed in the same spot every time. I put a pencil mark inside...
Loved our Explorer. Comfortable, predictable, durable. Not what most would call a high-performance boat, but getting you there without any worries I would call performance.
Used Penetrol many years ago and it is great at hiding scratches but didn’t like the colorful “oil slick” that followed me around. Looked like gasoline on the water.
