Following wind, waves, and canoe design. Where to next?

You might consider getting a splash cover. I bought one from Red Leaf Designs. The splash covers helps miitgate the wind and with any waves that may splash over.

As stable as a Camper but lighter

I use a removable portage yoke. I have 2 portage yokes. One is homemade using plans from Cliff Jacobson’s books for my Old Town Discovery 119 and the other is a CVCA portage yoke for my Wenonah Wilderness.

Painter tiedown — in the water and on car top

I have industrial grade self adhesive velco that I attach to the air tanks in the bow & stern of the canoe. I the use a piece of double sided velcro the wrap around the coiled painter line and then attach that to the velcro on the air tanks.

The Spork, Do you use one?

I do not like sporks. They don’t work well as a fork or a spoon. I think sporks was the solution to a problem that never existed.

Opinions on a new boat - Rapidfire, Spitfire 13, Trillium

The problem with the Northstar boats is getting one to Alaska. There are no dealers in Alaska and you would have to drive down to Washington and Oregon to pick up the boat. Northstar does NOT like to put their boats on the barge because of history of damage to 100% of the boats shipped on the...

Opinions on a new boat - Rapidfire, Spitfire 13, Trillium

I just bought a new Wenonah Wilderness in the ultralight kevlar layup last November. It weighs 30 lbs. I bought this canoe at Wilderness Way in Soldotna just to canoe the Swanson River Canoe Trails, the Swan Lake Canoe Trails and the Nancy Lake Canoe Trails.
