October 12-13. A group of 3 canoes with 6 people put in at the hwy16 bridge and paddled down to the hwy4 bridge. We used Rochelle's canoe service for shuttle. It was roughly 20 miles and we took 2 days to do it. Started out at 28f Saturday morning when we started but warmed up nicely during the day. My daughter and I paddled a 14' River Rouge canoe and the others paddled 17' aluminum Ouachita canoes. The river was running at about 135cfs and wish it was running a little more. We dragged a handful of times and had to get out and drag the boat through the shoals. It was my daughter and one couples first time doing an overnight trip. We fished for little the first day. Caught 3 nice bass and seen a bald eagle. It was a lot of fun with a lot of paddling. The river had a lot of long slow pools to paddle through. The next time we do this trip I would like to take at least 3 days so that you can fish a lot more. Here are some pics of the trip:

Really nice, and very interesting. Living in Northern Canada, I had always assumed Texas was one of those warm places. Do you get some kind of winter there?

It looks like the young lady in the bow of the boat was having a great time!

She was having a blast and ready for another trip. We are trying to do another trip here in the next few weeks.

We had a cold front come through the day before the trip. It can be 90 one day and 30 the next. Doesn’t snow very much. Maybe 6”-8” at the most in my area if we get any at all. Generally gone in a week. Nothing like what ya’ll experience up there.
