I met Mark Emig and had him forge me a 1.5# head hung on a 24" octagonal haft to use as a canoe tripping axe, his shop is up in the hills outside Hurley NY. The axe is outstanding, it splits and limbs beautifully and a joy to behold. The bit and pole are both hardened and have the bit honed to a mirror polish it slices paper effortlessly. Mark is very accommodating with needs and personal preference tastes. I couldn't be happier and it's even better to go into the woods with a tool made by a local (to me) craftsman.
