Fishing in the great canoe reserve LaVerendrye (Quebec) can be really expensive for a paddler on a week long trip, but I have learned to plan my fishing time ahead. I only buy a 3 day Quebec license, and maybe one or two days fishing permit from the folks at the office when I buy my camping permits at LeDomaine, Quebec. I just plan on fishing when I get beyond a portage or two and enjoy a day or evening of fishing in areas not used to pressure of boat fisherman. It can be very rewarding.

Robin - Great stuff! Thanks for sharing your photo. I'm happy that you're still getting out there.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

PS - Bet that was one tasty meal.

Thanks, that was a few years ago on a solo trip. I ended up keeping one, re I even had left-overs for the next day when I got to Chute Henault....ummmmmm good

I would love to know where that picture was taken.(green canoe, falls, and fish) It looks very similar to a place I fished with my dad in 1964. I’ve looked intermittently for years on google maps trying to find the spot.

The good fisherman, like the good lover will, "Never kiss and tell".
By the way, anyone with a good spot for Speckled Trout, Square Tails or Brook Trout, preferably large and colorful, that no one else knows about? Bonus would be a nice spot for a camp with scenic view.

Richard1726, Where you at LaVerendrye Wildlife Reserve in 64? This is in southern Quebec. That falls is called Chute Henault, it's at the north end of Lac Henault where it dumps into Lac Cowasachouane (these lakes are in the north western side of the reserve.

Birchy, I caught those walleyes somewhere within a days paddle of that spot, best we gonna give;)
